What happens when stained glass is no longer limited to two dimensions? What is the result when the stained glass window becomes mobile, subject to airflows and overlaps between its pieces? In January 2023 I spent a few weeks delving into these questions by devoting myself to the manufacture of stained glass mobiles. This small series brings together my explorations in matter.
 
Being in motion in three dimensions, this mobile has no precise dimensions. It measures approximately 20cm (L) x 20cm (W) x 18cm (H). Mobile no. 3 has a suspension chain that measures 20cm from the top of the work with a steel hook.
 
Stained glass mobiles may be suitable for outdoor use provided that they are protected from winds likely to break the glass and provided that they are sheltered in winter or in the event of a storm.
 
This work is a unique piece of stained glass, handcrafted in the Atelier Berenson in Aveyron, France.
