Stained glass panels can last for hundreds of years when properly cared for. Here are some tips for maintaining your artwork.
Stained glass & health
Stained glass solder contains lead (except pieces indicated as "lead-free"). This element is stable and safe for your health and home as long as it is not ingested. In addition, the solder lines of your stained glass piece have been coated with a protective wax. Thus, do not lick your stained glass and keep it out of reach of children and animals. As a precaution, I recommend washing your hands after handling your piece.
Cleaning & care
I recommend cleaning your stained glass window periodically using a soft cloth and glass or car polish. This will help restore your artwork to its original shine, although some patina oxidation is normal over time. Avoid using household cleaners or glass cleaning products containing ammonia because these aggressive substances can cause damage, sometimes irreparable, to your stained glass.
Installation & hanging
I strongly advise against the use of suction cups for the suspension of your stained glass piece. For installation in front of a window, I recommend the use of a screw-on hook. For installation in a doorway or on a wall, I recommend the use of frame hooks or nails adapted to your surface.
